Mechanical Engineer

Job Description:

A non-shift position reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor. Responsible for planned/breakdown maintenance of a wide range of mechanical and pneumatic installations and commissioning of small projects. You will also work with, and provide assistance to, contractors and service personnel as required.

Duties:

  • 1. On-site fabrication.

    2. Removal and repair of air valves, pumps, gearboxes, pipework, seals etc

    3. Breakdown investigation and fault finding.

    4. In situ and workshop welding, when required.

    5. Working in confined entry spaces and at height as required.

    6. Covering out of hours breakdowns.

    7. Site facility maintenance.

    8. Basic electrical isolation and safety awareness.

    9. Carry out regular PPM on site steam and compressed air systems.

    10. Maintaining maintenance records.

Skills base:

  • · Maintenance engineering – preferably in a chemical environment

    · Chemical handling

    · Manual handling

    · Counter balance fork licence (training could be provided)

    · Electro-pneumatic experience (training could be provided)

    · Health & Safety awareness

    · Team working (across site)

    · Good communication skills

Conditions:

· 40 hour working week (Weekend working available)

· Monday to Friday 08:00 and 17:00hrs

· On call retainer on a department rota

· Overtime rated pay structure

· Salary £32,000 to £35,000 per annum (dependant on experience)

Safety and Sustainability Advisor

Job Description:

To provide support to the Head of Safety & Sustainability, to ensure all regulatory reporting is managed & maintained in order to improve our reporting and data analysis across Deltech Europe. Assist in the day-to-day management, upkeep, and effectiveness of the Deltech Europe safety management systems policies and procedures, maintaining document control to enable effective communication and execution of Safety, Environmental & Sustainable performance.

Duties:

  • 1. Work with the Head of Safety & Sustainability to implement the Safety & Sustainability Strategy, and associated safety plans. Prepare relevant reports and presentations to ensure S&S information is embedded across the business.

    2. Assist in the development, administration, upkeep of the companies digital EHS management system. Ensuring the Management System, policies and procedures are updated, reviewed, communicated, and controlled.

    3. Complete all statutory & regulatory reporting as part of maintaining existing H&S and Environmental requirements. Producing timely reports, arranging external agencies to conduct monitoring & testing, as part of ongoing reporting and EA permit requirements.

    4. Proactively managing S&S data input and output of reports in order to track and meet company mandated reporting schedules. Provide statistical reporting, identifying trends, leading, and lagging indicators, in order to support the company’s safety culture and philosophy that all accidents are preventable.

    5. Conduct root cause investigations into accidents, incidents, near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are identified and implemented and lessons are shared across the organisation.

    6. Carry out internal audits & inspection whilst assisting managers in the implementation of recommendation, preventative, and corrective actions. Ensure suppliers and contractors meet specific inspections, calibration or testing as part of ongoing safety compliance.

    7. Support specific improvement initiatives and projects across all areas of S&S in pursuit of our shared goal of “Zero Injuries” and “Sustainable business” whilst enabling year on year reduction & impact on the environment.

    8. Assist in the delivery of required basic Safety & Sustainability training plan.

    9. Collaborate to deliver support, general S&S advice and guidance on relevant company standards and safe working practices.

    10. Get involved in any ad hoc projects, as may be required from time to time.

    11. Assist as required and within your area of competence

    Qualifications

    • Chemical: 1 year (Required)

    • Environmental: 1 year (Required)

    • Safety: 1 year (Required)

Skills base:

  • · Environmental qualified (IEMA or other similar qualification) with experience in environmental management requirements

    · Previous experience working within chemical manufacturing environment

    · Experience in chemical safety and IOSH qualified, but ideally with a NEBOSH qualification.

    · Knowledge of current Safety & Environmental legislation, policies, and procedures

    · Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data/information in a clear and logical format, with an eye for attention to detail as part of maintaining document control

    · Proven experience with developing or working with a company’s EHS system with a strong working knowledge of PC applications; Microsoft, outlook, Excel, PowerPoint

    · Excellent oral communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to take a confident and diplomatic approach with colleagues, customers, and stakeholders

    · Written communication skills with the ability to produce clear and concise reports and returns

    · Excellent organisation and able to prioritise and work well under pressure, whilst making key decisions

    · Experience in developing and delivering internal training (desirable)

    · Auditor qualification (desirable)

    · Quality management experience (desirable)
